Our history
In 2002, two directors from Northcott Beaton (now Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Exeter) set up a search company called Property Search South West. The personal searches produced were unable to obtain full information from Local Authorities. In response to this, insurers were approached and a search indemnity policy was designed to cover both the missing information, errors and omissions of the Local Authority, and contingency errors and omissions of the search agent. This product and variations of it are used throughout the industry today.
This started a healthy interest in Legal Indemnity Insurance and in response to this, we developed and designed other policies to assist search agents and solicitors in the conveyancing market.
We have been fortunate enough to have developed significant business links within the conveyancing industry dealing with some of the largest search providers in the UK, and numerous solicitors’ firms.
Incorporated into Lloyd & Whyte Group
The Lloyd & Whyte Group was established in 1946 and is a highly respected and trusted insurance brokerage, with roots in the South West. It has developed strong connections with many of the top insurers, including those specialising in Legal Indemnity. Lloyd & Whyte Group works alongside tried and trusted companies with proven track records, ensuring they are able to supply competitive terms with excellent levels of cover. Our primary aim is to provide high level solutions and the best customer service possible.
